adult education goal setting digital technology english language mentorship numeracyThe Community Learning Adult Student Society - Lac La Biche & District aims to enhance the learning experience for adult learners by providing mentorship and tutoring in basic digital technology, English speaking, reading, and numeracy skills. The project involves student participants working closely with adult learners and staff to facilitate skill development in these areas. The primary goal is to empower adult learners by improving their foundational skills, enabling them to engage more effectively in their personal and professional lives. Student participants will also assist in tracking the learners' progress on their individualized learning plans, ensuring that each learner receives tailored support and guidance. This project provides an opportunity for students to apply their classroom knowledge in a real-world setting, fostering both academic and personal growth.
Task One
- Meeting with staff and learner(s) to set goals. Help record on learner plan. Set times and place for tutoring or mentoring. Estimate the number of hours requited to master learning goals. Ongoing tracking of learner progress in learning plan
Task Two
- Tutoring and mentoring Learners so student participant reaches 60 hours. The student participant will keep a journal of hours worked and summary of tasks completed.
Task Three
- Update ten Community Learning Board of Director Manuals. Print of copies of information and organize with dividers in binders
Deliverable One
- Work with staff to identify which learners the student would like to tutor.
- Meet with learner to plan learner needs and update or start a learner plan. Establish when and where and how many times the learner with meet
- With support from staff make a plan of what methods you will use to help learner reach goals
Deliverable Two
- Track progress of learner
- A student journal with hours worked and brief summary of tasks completed
Deliverable Three
Ten Community Learning Board of Directors Manuals updated and ready to be given
Providing specialized, in-depth knowledge and general industry insights for a comprehensive understanding.
Sharing knowledge in specific technical skills, techniques, methodologies required for the project.
Direct involvement in project tasks, offering guidance, and demonstrating techniques.
Providing access to necessary tools, software, and resources required for project completion.
Scheduled check-ins to discuss progress, address challenges, and provide feedback.
