Advancements in Modern Medicine: A Guide for Older Adults
This project aims to create an informative and engaging written report designed to educate an older adult audience (age 50+) about the latest advancements in modern medicine. The focus will be on how these advancements are transforming public health and the management of chronic diseases, ultimately impacting the ability to live well for longer. The report will explore cutting-edge medical technologies, innovative treatments, and preventive measures that are shaping the future of healthcare. By providing clear and accessible information, the report will empower older adults to make informed decisions about their health and wellness. The project will involve researching current trends, analyzing their implications, and presenting the findings in a manner that is both educational and easy to understand.

Healthcare Accessibility and Awareness Survey Design for Older Adults in Alberta
This project aims to design a series of comprehensive surveys targeting older adults aged 50+ and their caregivers in Alberta, focusing on healthcare funding, access, and awareness. The primary goal is to gather valuable insights into the current state of preventive, primary, acute, and chronic care funding, identifying gaps and areas for improvement. Additionally, the project will explore the urban/rural divide in healthcare accessibility, seeking to understand the disparities in service availability. Another key aspect is assessing the clarity and effectiveness of information provided by Alberta's government and Alberta Health Services, with the aim of suggesting enhancements and complementary resources from other organizations. Students will apply their healthcare knowledge to develop surveys that are both informative and actionable, contributing to CanAge's mission of improving healthcare and access for older adults.

Horticulture Therapy Plan for Senior Social Engagement
Social isolation is a significant issue affecting seniors, leading to negative impacts on mental and physical health. This project aims to develop a comprehensive horticulture therapy plan to address social isolation among seniors aged 50 and above. The goal is to create a structured program that can be implemented in long-term care facilities, residential care settings, and for those aging-in-place within the community. The plan should consider varying levels of physical and cognitive abilities among participants, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility. Students will apply their knowledge of horticulture, psychology, and gerontology to design activities that promote social interaction, mental stimulation, and physical activity. The project will also explore the therapeutic benefits of gardening and plant care, aiming to enhance the quality of life for seniors through meaningful engagement with nature.

Streamlined Onboarding and Intranet Design for Nonprofits
This project aims to develop a new hire onboarding process and intranet template for two nonprofit organizations and one small boutique agency. The goal is to streamline the onboarding process using Google Sites, which is already integrated into the organizations' Google Workspace. Students will focus on creating efficient and user-friendly templates that cater to the specific needs of IT departments while ensuring ease of use for new hires. By customizing existing templates, students will apply their classroom knowledge to real-world scenarios, enhancing their understanding of process optimization and user experience design. The project encourages critical thinking about how to improve operational efficiencies and meet user needs effectively. The three organizations are: www.canage.ca (nonprofit) www.foodtrucksofcanada.org (nonprofit) www.janaray.ca (small agency)
