Audio Engineer & Narrator Phase 2: History

Positions available: 30 Upon completion of Phase 1 (Medical Health Sciences Audiobooks), Audio Engineers will embark on Phase 2; recording of audiobooks focused on history. Each student will be assigned a specific history audiobook to record. We have over 160 books in our catalogue. We would like students to help us with creating content that is aligned with our vision, mission, and sector. We will ensure the student has a clear understanding of what these elements are for our organization. Project Outcomes: Audio Engineers will finish narrating, recording, mixing, and editing two (2) history-focused audiobooks in phase 2 (80 hrs). Receipt of the Level UP honorarium is contingent upon full completion of this outcome in the allotted 80 hours. Project Description: With guidance from the program manager, assistant program managers, and creative directors, the Audiobook Narrator and Audio Engineer will work in small groups (1-2 people) to narrate and record historical texts and manuscripts for the purpose of audio-book production. The Audiobook Narrator and Audio Engineer will possess the following attributes and qualifications: - Ability and desire to record one’s own voice using digital recording technologies. - Working understanding of recording including but not limited to: Digital audio workstations such as garage band, Protools, Reaper, Logic pro, or others), microphone placement, recording, editing, and enhancing recorded audio. - Self-starting workflow to meet rigorous deadlines. - Ability to create and maintain one’s own work schedule without direct supervision whilst ensuring a high degree of quality and integrity in the final product. - Access to one’s own recording equipment and recording space, including but not limited to; Microphones, XLR/USB cables, and an audio interface. - Applicants must own a computer capable of recording, storing, and processing large file sizes (minimum specs; 4GB RAM, 1.5 GHZ intel i5 processor or equivalent, at-least 30- 50 GB of free hard-drive or SSD space). - A captivating vocal presence - ability to portray engaging narratives through vocal flexibility and variation. The Audiobook Narrator and Audio Engineer will work closely with creative directors, program managers, graphic designers, authors, and editors to produce narrative works of high quality and integrity. We have a Music Industry Podcast that has been running for almost a decade, making it one of the first in the music space. About Company Play it Loud Music is a boutique artist management and creative services company. Project Scope Number of individual students required: 4 students We are looking for students with excellent audio/podcast editing skills. Our CEO, Aaron, has had a podcast for over a decade making it one of the first in the music space. Aaron interviews renowned experts on life-changing events such as climbing Mount Everest to performing at Wembley Stadium. He dives into how guests built their careers in the entertainment world and what it takes to succeed in business and life. We are currently developing podcasts for clients to distribute to Audible, Spotify, etc., and will involve students in all aspects of the creative process. Students will be provided the raw audio files of the host and guest's side of the conversation. These files will need to be edited to remove unnecessary noise, flow of conversation, and enhance heightened listener engagement. Musical bed tracks will be provided along with intro's and outro's for each episode. Students will receive clear instruction on the podcast format and how to execute the work. Edited files will need to be converted into mastered tracks for upload to the podcast distribution network. Each episodes is up to an hour in length. Besides editing, the student will be required to write blog posts and notes to go with each episode. There is a lot of room for creativity and input. You will work closely with our team and receive lots of support. If you are ready to tackle this challenge with us, then we'd love to hear from you. Editing skills and publishing knowledge is a plus. We are also keen to work with students that want to provide recommendations on increasing listenership and sponsorship opportunities.
